About T&G

Tongue'n'Groove all started when 5 friends  got together to form a band in 2014 because we enjoyed each others company and wanted to play music together. We're still having fun 10 years later, each bringing our own musical styles and personalities to the set. Our promise to each other when we started the band was that we'd have a crack at any song anyone wanted to suggest - that's made for an eclectic set which we love playing. Our other promise to each other was to always have fun. If we had less of this, we'd have a huge set, but our rehearsals are mostly spent laughing and eating biscuits. We bring that 'hwyl' and enthusiasm to every gig.

Mike

Drums

Mike joined us in 2021 after our original and fabulous drummer Jenks hung up his sticks. To find another drummer of such calibre was such amazing luck, and also to find such a genuinely nice bloke!. We can't keep track of the number of bands Mike plays in but he turns up on time to ours, ready to go every time and also carries most of our stuff for us. He's not called Mad Mike for nothin!

Christine McLennan

Sax/Vocals/Keyboard

It's fair to say she gives us all the 📯😁. In truth she can get a parp out of any instrument she picks up. Can't help but harmonise. Absolute treasure. Smuggles her own booze into gigs.

Beth Bennett

Vocals

Does singing.
A bit of a bossy diva on the quiet but it helps if someone can write lists and remember stuff. She's liable to flounce if we don't notice a(nother) new dress. Also has a tendency to flash her knickers at the band without warning. She's alright on the tambourine but often forgets she's holding it (mid-song). Never reckons she's got enough room on stage. Her superpower would be to regularly fit a full PA into a fiesta. Sings better barefoot.

Graham Preston

Guitar/Vocals

Cut him in half and you'd see Rock 'n' roll written all the way through like a stick of rock. He's *our* Greatest Showman. Owns the shiniest, pointiest shoes in the land. Bit of a faffer between songs. Task-master in rehearsals. Loves a kebab - one day, he's going have to face it, he's addicted to... chili. Up for adventure with infectious enthusiasm. Ask him to do his tractor wave - it'll make your day.

Jo Gwilim

Bass Guitar

Jo G 🎸🔉🔊🎚️🎛️ A man of many hats - figuratively and in the millinerial sense. Mixes sound whilst blasting out bass. He also plays the flute and one day we'll make use of that. We've lost track of the number of bass guitars he's got, but he assures us he has 'just enough'. Graham agrees with that. Sports a winning smile and gets the best out of every gig.
Luckily for us, he only has trouble hearing low notes.
